4 Ways to Evoke Emotions Using Photos on Your Website

When using photos on your website, you should try to use images that evoke emotions in the minds of the visitors. Doing so will make it easier for you to convert such visitors into a paying customer. And below, I will list out four ways do trigger emotional responses from people who view the photos on your website.

1- Capture Feeling

The easiest way to make photos seem more emotional is by ensuring that all images you select display some kind of feeling. For example, imagine that you are building a website aimed at families who go on a holiday. Now, you can use a high-resolution image of a beach or something. However, a far better option will be to use the image of a family at the beach, smiling and playing with each other. This will create a feeling of happiness in every visitor’s mind. And when the website user is already in a positive mood, it will be easier for you to sell your product or service online.

2- Website Aesthetic

Ensure that all images you use will blend well with the overall aesthetic of your website. Photos that look too out of place can give off a very weird vibe to the visitor. For example, if you are building a website of a law firm, and have been using a very minimal color palette that includes colors like beige, yellow, blue, grey, and so on, then including a photo that has colors like pink, orange etc. will look rather awkward. While the website might be trying to give off a professional look, the photo might seem a bit too much on the fun side. As such, the customer might be confused as to how to feel about your website. 3- Lighting

Another way to create an emotional response is by clever use of lighting in the image. Darker lighting can create a more mysterious, lonely, philosophical feel to the image. In the same way, brighter images are generally accepted as being fun and full of life. So, depending on what you wish to project through the photos, try to control the lighting using any image editing software.

4- Use People

People like to see other people. It is a very fundamental truth of human nature. Hence, you should try to make sure that some of the photos you select will contain human beings. Ideally, try to use images which has a single person in them rather than multiple people. Similarly, images in which the person is looking away from the camera is seen to be perceived as more interesting in the minds of the people than a photo where the person is looking dead straight at the camera.
