My first job right out of college was an engineer at a truck parking lot. There were tons of unexpected challenges, from a gas check valve requiring replacement on the first day to dealing with mountains of health care paperwork.

- Be friendly and approachable. Make an effort to get to know your colleagues and build relationships. Offer your help and don’t be afraid to take initiative.
What can a young student possibly offer a new employer?
A fresh minted grad offers an employer a new perspective, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to learn.
